I miss weird Settings
I know that the world of nostalgia can be a dangerous thing, but there's something in me that really looks at the current world of both film and TTRPGs and can only see what we've lost in terms of stuff being WEIRD. I know that weird literature still exists, I just miss the general feeling of "this world is bizarre" vs "this world actually makes sense and we had a group of scientists verify that the math all checks out", where the latter seems to be most of what we get. I crave feeling wonder and strangeness again. The closest we've had in years has been Scavenger's Reign and that's apparently dead in the water now.
There's something about these magical realms that have an idea of internal logic but no actual world guide where it all "makes sense" or can lead to a "X Media Property EXPLAINED" piece of YouTube slop content.
