The AI genie isn't going back
My partner and I were talking about AI and they said that "there's no way to put something that convenient back back in the box" and I do wonder if that's true. First, I see the other data points, streaming was just too convenient, there's precedent. My thought is I've seen the losses that companies like Open AI are managing to hit with their business models, I think we're about to see either a huge jump in efficiency OR a huge contraction in the amount of cheap AI services. These companies cannot hemorrhage money for their entire existence and at some point there will be a shift here and I assume that most of these companies will wind up heavily paywalled.
Still hoping the outcome is the models all hallucinating so violently as to be useless and they fold but I ain't holding my breath here.
